Guemes Island Ferry to Run Normal Schedule Thursday, Jan. 25
The Guemes Island Ferry was previously scheduled to be out of service on Thursday, January 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for USCG-required follow-up inspections and weld testing at Dakota Creek. These inspections were dependent on calm and dry conditions and because of the forecasted weather for tomorrow, the inspections have been cancelled. The ferry will run on a normal sailing schedule instead and we will notify the public as soon as the inspections have been rescheduled.

Guemes Island Ferry Out of Service Thursday, Jan. 25 (8am-3pm) The Guemes Island ferry will be out of service on Thursday, January 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for USCG-required follow-up inspections and weld testing at Dakota Creek. We are required to complete these inspections by January 30.
On Thursday morning, the car ferry will be in service starting at 6:30 a.m. The last sailing before going out of service will be at 7:30 a.m. If the inspections go well, and we are cleared to re-enter service, the car ferry will resume service at 3:15 p.m. Passenger-only service will be provided from the regular ferry terminals on the ferry’s regular sailing schedule with service starting 8:00 a.m. and the last foot ferry sailing at 2:30 p.m.
Calm, dry conditions are necessary for the inspection, and we have done our best to check the forecast and schedule this outage. As we get closer, things could change; we will keep you informed.
Previous notice (1/10 at 7:30 a.m.): Following a 10-day shut-down for urgent repairs, the car ferry is back in service operating on the normal sailing schedule. At the next opportunity for calm dry weather, we will need to pull the ferry from service for one more day for required USCG inspection and weld testing. We do not yet know when that will be. We will provide as much advance notice as we can.
