Guemes Island Ferry Ticket Expiration Policy

Guemes Island Ferry Ticket Expiration Policy

Skagit County is aware of the complaints submitted regarding the expiration policy of Guemes Island ferry punch cards. The usage of expired punch cards is not authorized by Skagit County. We do sincerely apologize for the confusion and we are investigating this matter further. We appreciate our community members writing to us to share their experience at the ferry terminal so we can ensure our service meets the expected standards.

The multi-ride punch card tickets are a great opportunity to buy ferry tickets at a discounted price and they are intended to support our most frequent riders of the ferry. The ferry punch card order request form and ferry fare schedule state tickets are only valid for 90 days from purchase and the expiration date is printed on the ticket itself to help remind purchasers and our ferry staff of that expiration date. Please refer to Resolution #20230152, adopted by the Board of Skagit County Commissioners on July 27, 2023, which established the 2023 – 2024 Ferry Fare Schedule.

We hope the transition to electronic ticketing will help with our multi-ride tickets in the future. There will still be an expiration date for those tickets moving forward and the QR code attached to those tickets will not work past the expiration date. The ability to access your multi-ride tickets on your account also ensures that you can’t lose your physical card anymore (and lose any remaining punches on that card).

If you have any questions regarding our current ferry fare schedule, please refer to our fare schedule online. More information on the transition to electronic ticketing can be found on our project webpage.
