Good afternoon,

After being out of service since 6:30 a.m., the Anacortes dock is back in operation, and the car ferry will resume service at 2:30 p.m. We will operate according to our normal sailing schedule for the remainder of the day. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE 10:18
Subject: Small Ferry for Hire Leaving Guemes at 11:00 a.m. for Anacortes

Hi Captain Rachel,

We have hired San Juan Marine Freight to ferry us and our cars from Guemes to Anacortes leaving at 11:00 a.m. today (about an hour from the sending of this email). They currently have capacity for 3 additional cars. Please consider sending an email to let other residents know in case they are in similar need. They can contact Dan at San Juan Marine Freight at (360) 202-8611. They can also look for us near the Guemes ferry launch in about 20 minutes. We have a dark blue Mazda CX-9 SUV with California plates. Thank you very much for your time and consideration and good luck resolving the outage.

Sincerely, Matt Bogosian

UPDATE 10:09

Ferry service update:

We do not yet know exactly what happened with the Anacortes dock. However, we are currently investigating what we believe to be improper stowage of the ferry ramp after the end of service last night. The transfer span and apron are partially submerged, and crews are working to diagnose the extent of the damage. So far, there is no sign of structural, mechanical, electrical or hydraulic failure.

UPDATE 9:23 AM

The Anacortes ferry dock is currently out of service. Car ferry service will not be provided for an undetermined amount of time. Crews are working to restore service as soon as possible. Until then, a foot ferry is in operation. We have been asked a few questions, and we’d like to address them.

How do I catch the passenger-only vessel in Anacortes?

Arrow Launch is currently providing passenger-only service between Anacortes and Guemes Island out of Cap Sante Marina, located at 10th St. and Q Ave. Passengers will embark and disembark at A dock. To get to A dock, head east on 13th St. from Commercial Ave. To see a map of the exact location, please visit:

How do I catch the passenger-only vessel from Guemes Island?

The passenger-only vessel is operating from the regular Guemes Island ferry dock.

Is there shuttle service between Cap Sante Marina and the Anacortes ferry terminal?

Skagit Transit operates fixed bus routes from 10th St. and Q Ave.

Route 409 departs 10th St. and Q Ave. at 25 minutes and 55 minutes after the hour until 1:00 p.m. After 1:00 p.m., the schedule is every 20 minutes and 50 minutes after the hour until 4:20 p.m. The Anacortes ferry terminal is a scheduled stop on route 409. For more information and schedules for route 409, please visit:

https://www.skagittransit.org/route-409/

After 4:20 p.m., passengers will need to ride route  410, which will depart 10th St. and Q Ave. at 4:48 p.m., 5:48 p.m. and 6:48 p.m. If you catch route 410 from 10th St. and Q Ave. and want to go to the Anacortes ferry terminal, you need to tell the driver you need to go to the Guemes Ferry, as it is not a scheduled stop on this route. If you need to ride the 401 route from the Anacortes ferry terminal to Cap Sante Marina, you need to call Skagit Transit dispatch at (360) 757-4433 to schedule the pick-up. For more information and schedules for route 410, please visit:

UPDATE 8:25 AM

Passenger-only service is now available between Cap Sante Marina (located at 10th St and Q Ave) in Anacortes and Guemes Island. They will likely not be able to operate according to the regular sailing schedule due to the extended transit time. As soon as we know what the general schedule will be, we will let you know.

The Anacortes ferry dock is still not operational as it is partially submerged under water. At this time, we do not know how this happened; crews are currently troubleshooting. We will provide regular service updates throughout the day.

6:49 AM

The Guemes Island ferry cannot provide service for an undetermined amount of time due to a serious issue with the Anacortes dock. Arrow Launch can operate passenger-only service between Guemes Island and Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes. However, it will be a couple of hours until they can start the service. Right now, our best guess is that the Anacortes dock could be out of service for the remainder of the day. We will send another notification when we know more.
