Route Schedules
Skagit Transit will pilot bus service on Guemes Island upon the return of the Guemes Island Vehicle Ferry, following its haul-out, which is anticipated for early June 2025. The service will operate Monday through Saturday, providing access to jobs and community services for up to six months. The bus will travel from Anacortes to Guemes Island on the 7:00 a.m. ferry and return to Anacortes on the 5:00 p.m. ferry. Ridership will be evaluated throughout the pilot to assess its success. Lower-than-expected ridership may lead to early termination of the pilot. The level of ridership will also help determine whether Skagit Transit will consider permanent service on the island.
This is a reservation-based service, which means all pickup and drop offs must be scheduled. Rides must be scheduled at least one hour in advance. When rides are not scheduled, the bus will hold at the Guemes Island Ferry Terminal. To schedule a ride, call Skagit Transit at 360-757-4433, press 2, and ask for Guemes Dispatch. This service will operate on most major roads on Guemes Island. A map of accessible roads can be found on this page. If you are traveling to or from a road that isn’t marked on this map, simply call Skagit Transit dispatch, and they will help determine the nearest accessible road.
This bus service will be open to the public. Riders will be required to pay Skagit Transit’s standard fare: $1.00 for regular fare and $0.50 for reduced fare (available to individuals with disabilities and those aged 65 and older). Youth aged 18 and under ride free on all Skagit Transit services. Fares can be paid in cash or through Umo, Skagit Transit’s electronic fare payment system.
For more information about this service or utilizing Umo for fare payment, please visit the Skagit Station Customer Service Desk at 105 E. Kincaid Street, Mount Vernon, WA, or contact Customer Service at 360-757-4433, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
