Guemes Island Ferry Electronic Ticketing System Launch Delayed

Guemes Island Ferry Electronic Ticketing System Launch Delayed

Skagit County is in the process of transitioning to a new electronic ferry ticketing system, provided by Anchor Operating Systems. The original launch date for the new system was June 6, 2024; however, the software integration with our payment processor has taken longer than expected. With the support of our beta testing team, Skagit County is delaying the launch date to continue working on the new application. The Public Works Ferry Division is dedicated to providing an effective and efficient ticketing system for our riders and we will update the community as soon as a new launch date is announced.

In case you missed it, Skagit County Public Works hosted a community meeting on Monday, May 20th, at the Guemes Island Community Center to provide a demonstration of the new ticketing software and answer questions about the new system. The meeting was recorded over Zoom and is available to view on the ferry ticketing project page. The frequently asked question section of the project page has also been updated and expanded to provide more information to interested citizens.

About Skagit County’s Transition to Electronic Ferry Ticketing

Skagit County is excited to announce the launch of a new electronic ferry ticketing system provided by Anchor Operating Systems. Anchor has experience working with premiere ferry systems to provide mobile ticketing systems across the country including Pierce County Ferries, San Francisco Bay Ferry, NYC Ferry, Fisher Island Ferry, and many more.

Soon, residents will have the convenience of pre-purchasing ferry tickets on Skagit County’s website using Anchor’s user-friendly and mobile-ready platform. Upon purchase of your ticket(s), you will receive a QR code to simplify boarding procedures. The QR code can be scanned at the ferry terminal on your mobile device, or you can print your tickets after purchase.

For those who prefer in-person transactions, tickets will still be available at the ferry office in Anacortes, located within the main lobby of the terminal building. Acceptable forms of payment at the ferry terminal include credit, debit, and contactless options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cash is not accepted at the ferry terminal; however, in-person cash payments for ferry tickets are accepted at the Skagit County Administration Building, located at 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, during business hours.

For ADA accommodations, please call our office at (360) 293-6433. To best accommodate you, please call the ferry staff 48 hours in advance of your trip.
